Business Professionals of America 2020

Hello Delaware BPA! My name is Siya Brahmbhatt and I have had the opportunity to be a member of Business Professionals of America for five years. I joined with no knowledge of what the organization was about. This was the first club I had ever joined in my life. Our dear business teacher had sadly passed away. BPA was her passion and was what inspired me to join. During my first year, I was elected as President of our Middle-level Chapter. Along with my chapter, I got to honor Mrs. Prickett at SLC. The emotional moment inspired me to continue with BPA. I joined BPA in high school and met friends of a lifetime, adapted new skills, and gained new experiences. The organization inspired me to see a future in journalism and public speaking along with my dream of becoming a doctor. This year I got the opportunity to be President of my high school chapter. I am so excited for the chapter to succeed and be limitless. The State Officer Leadership team taught me many skills at the Fall Leadership seminars. They have inspired me to run for the State Officer Team this year. I am motivated to help lead and assist Delaware BPA to the best of my ability. At the end of the day, I am thrilled to meet and connect with my fellow BPA members.

My name is Jakub Gul, and I am a junior at Newark Charter Jr/Sr High School. I want to continue to help BPA and its members. I hope to create a statewide impact as an officer by having and informing members of more community service opportunities that are accessible to all members of BPA. I would like to inform members of all the opportunities that BPA has to offer. As Business professionals we need to make sure that our impact on the communities does not fade, nor does our desire of becoming the next generation of work-ready Business Professionals.

My name is Lanaya Haynes, I am a junior at Indian River High School. I have been a part of BPA for five years and felt inspired instantly. I am the current BPA chapter president for the 2020-2021 school year and believe that I have the experience to serve at the state level. I would love to enhance the buddy system already in place. I think the State organization can be more involved with local chapters on a regular basis by making regular monthly contact with each chapter through different platforms via Zoom, pre-recorded videos, and/or in-person visits.

My name is Rohan Konkimalla, and I would like to run for BPA State Officer. I am a freshman in Newark Charter High school, and this is my 3rd year doing BPA. Although I am a freshman, I do have experience in BPA and leadership experience in and out of school. As a freshman, I think I can bring a new perspective to the team as we have to think differently through this extremely unusual and difficult time. I think BPA has run extremely well, but I also think there is a lot to change and I can help fix it.

Greetings, my name is Quadir Phillip and I am currently a junior at Caesar Rodney High where I serve as President of my local chapter. I developed a passion for BPA in middle school and have been committed to this organization ever since. BPA has allowed me to display my leadership ability. I have also enjoyed growing through professional development, competition, and service. I really enjoy Torch Awards because it allows me to participate in projects that help assist my school and community. I have embraced the vision of BPA and I am a proud product of it.

I am Noah Qasim, and I am a 16 year old Sophomore at Newark Charter School. I was born to a second-generation Yemeni American father and a Yemeni immigrant mother in Newark, Delaware. From the ages of zero up until I entered school, I spoke no English, and Arabic was my first language. I have participated in BPA since 7th grade and have found success in competitions at the state and national level. I want to run for state office because I feel like I can tap the potential of the Delaware BPA members, and represent the students exceptionally well.

My name is Isabel Sweet. I am currently in an 11th-grade student at Lake Forest High School. I am very active with extracurriculars both in and out of school. I really enjoy helping my community and learning new things. This is my first year as President of my school’s BPA and I’ve been a member of BPA since 9th grade. I would like to run for an officer position for the state BPA because I think I could help encourage more to join and participate in BPA as well as offer more ideas on how to further help our community.

Hello, my name is Melissa Valcin, and I am a Junior at Lake Forest High School. I come from Haitian immigrant parents who’ve sacrificed their entire lives into providing my younger brother and I with opportunities for a better life. Inspired my parents’ drive, I believe it is important to never let opportunities pass you by. This is what motivates me to run for the State Officer Leadership team, so to be able to provide other students like me with opportunities of success as my parents have done for me.
